What Do You Do with Your Excess Inventory?

I was googling the term “excess inventory” recently and I came across this image of wedding dresses being defaced when a retailer was going out of business.Wedding Dress Apparently, the retailer thought it was better for the dresses to be destroyed than donated or moved into another retail channel. The New York Times has also reported that major clothing chains were disposing of their excess inventory by slashing clothes and throwing them in garbage bags to the curb. While I’m not trying to point the finger at these companies, it does illustrate a point: It’s not so uncommon for companies to destroy or dump their excess inventory. While not quite as bad, in my experience many companies also let excess inventory or overstocks sit in their warehouses or on their shelves.
