Abamectin has limited systemic activity in the plant through a translaminar or local systemic effect on the leaves when applied, that is, it is not transported to the plant organs not exposed to the application, this in insects (blocks electrical activity of nerves and muscles, increases the conductivity of the membrane to chlorine ions, by releasing GABA, prevents the transmission of motor impulses. In arthropods, it prevents the transmission of signals in the neuromuscular connections by the same mechanism of amplification of the action of GABA, through increased membrane permeability to calcium.
